The job

An internship here is not a side project parked away from anything that matters. You work in the same repositories under the same review as everyone else, which means your first pull request will get comments — that is the point of it, and it is the fastest way anyone learns to write software other people can rely on.

You get a named mentor, a weekly one-to-one that is about you rather than about status, and work that is scoped so it can actually be finished. We would rather you ship three small things properly than start one large thing you hand back unfinished.

What you would be doing

  1. Pick up scoped work in a live repository and see it through review to a deploy.
  2. Ask early. An hour stuck is normal; a day stuck and quiet is the only mistake here.
  3. Write tests for what you build, including the case where it fails.
  4. Read other people’s pull requests, even when you are not required to.

What we need from you

Four or five things, not fifteen. A long list filters out the people who read it honestly and keeps the ones who do not.

  • You can already build something small end to end — any language, any stack — and show it to us.
  • You are comfortable in Git beyond commit and push.
  • You can write clearly in English, because most of what we do is written down.
  • You are available on-site in Pokhara for the full term.

What would help, and is not required

  • A repository with a history rather than a single upload.
  • You have contributed to something you did not start.
  • You have written about something you built and why.
